Desk Rejection Policy
Conditions under which submissions may be rejected without full review.
This policy is part of the Author and Submission Guidelines.
Submissions may be rejected without full review if they meet any of the following conditions:
- Out of scope: Do not address any of the conference’s Cross-AI Topics.
- Formatting violations: Exceed the page limit for the submission type or fail to use the required template.
- Anonymity violations: Include author names, affiliations, or other identifying information in paper submissions, which are subject to double-blind review. All other submissions are subject to single-blind review.
- Incomplete submissions: Omit required materials, such as the e-poster for Poster-Only submissions, or the demo video for Demo Papers and Demo-Only submissions.
- Missing author accounts: List authors who do not have an account on the conference management system, or who are not added to the submission with the email address of that account.
- Late submissions: Are submitted after the stated deadline.
- Violations of the Research Integrity Violations and Sanctions Policy:
- Plagiarism: Presentation of another person’s work, ideas, text, or other material as one’s own without appropriate acknowledgment.
- Simultaneous or prior submission: Violation of applicable policies on simultaneous or prior submission, including presenting the same work at more than one Cross-AI event. Previously published work that meets the Policy on Previously Published Work does not violate prior-submission policies.
- Fabricated or falsified content: Inclusion of fabricated or falsified information, data, experimental results, research findings, or references, whether generated by AI or otherwise.
- Violations of the AI Usage Policy:
- Undisclosed substantive AI use: Failure to disclose substantive use of AI tools when disclosure is required by the AI Usage Policy.
- Substantial unverified AI-generated content: Inclusion of substantial AI-generated content that has not been adequately reviewed and verified by the authors and that materially compromises the accuracy, reliability, or integrity of the submission. Examples include generic, incoherent, irrelevant, or misleading text; unsupported or incorrect claims; and content that misrepresents the underlying evidence, methods, or findings.
Desk-rejected submissions will not undergo full peer review, and desk-rejection decisions are final with respect to the submission concerned.
However, where a case involves an alleged serious research integrity violation that may warrant additional sanctions, including a submission ban, the case will be handled separately under the Research Integrity Violations and Sanctions Policy. Any such sanction will be imposed only after the violation has been substantiated through the procedures specified in that policy, including an appropriate opportunity for the authors concerned to respond. The finality of a desk-rejection decision does not preclude a separate research integrity investigation or the imposition of sanctions under that policy.
