Cross-AI Live

Conference proceedings move on a yearly cycle. A great deal of AI research does not. Cross-AI Live is the attempt to give fast-moving work a venue that matches its pace, without lowering what counts as review.

The mismatch this exists for

A result that appears in March waits until August to be presented and until the following spring to be cited. By then the field has moved, three groups have reproduced it independently, and the discussion that would have been most useful — the one held while the result was still uncertain — never happened anywhere citable.

Preprints solved the speed problem and created a different one: velocity without venue. There is somewhere to post, and nowhere to convene.

How Live works

A session is a short presentation of current work with a named discussant and an open floor, scheduled when the work is ready rather than when the calendar allows. Sessions are recorded and published with a permanent link, so a Live appearance is something a researcher can point at.

Presenting at Live does not consume a paper. Work shown here remains submittable to the conference and to any other venue — the point is to hold the conversation early, not to claim priority over it.

Review is not skipped, it is moved

Every session has a discussant who has read the work in advance and prepares a genuine response, and every session is curated before it is scheduled. What Live drops is the queue, not the reading. Nothing is published under the Cross-AI name that no one competent has looked at.

Taking part today

The format runs manually right now: an open call for presenters, sessions scheduled as they are confirmed, recordings published afterwards. The platform module that will eventually host all of this is being built, and nothing about taking part depends on it landing. Propose a session and it will be read by a person.
